When I first started offering women’s spiritual self-discovery groups, I didn’t call them writing circles, though I used writing as our “power tool” to facilitate a deep, intuitive process, during which women’s authentic voices and inner knowing came through.

When I started calling the groups, “writing circles,” countless women came forward and affirmed, “I want to be in a writing group with other women.” From there I conjured the “Divine Ink formula,” to honor women’s voices by providing safe and sacred circles, based in trust, respect, and acceptance. These are not writing critique groups; rather a place where women write together, read out loud, and witness each other’s words and voices.
